Mr. FoodMr. Food New Spokesperson for Frozen and Refrigerated Foods
NFRA and Mr. Food are partnering to promote the convenience, quality and taste of frozen and refrigerated foods to the consumer. Mr. Food has been sharing his philosophy of “quick and easy” cooking for 30 years on local news broadcasts across the country. His syndicated vignette airs in more than 120 television markets with 4 to 6 million viewers tuning in daily. With Mr. Food promoting the value of using frozen and refrigerated foods in his recipes and on his show, NFRA will significantly extend our reach with consumers. We’re looking forward to developing this relationship, and you’ll see Mr. Food’s influcence throughout the year in all our marketing effots. Watch a welcome video from Mr. Food to learn more.

NFRA Supports Industry Scholarship Programs
The Frozen Food Industry Memorial Scholarship Fund has provided assistance to over 1,000 students pursuing careers in the food industry since its inception in 1965. The Scholarship Fund was formed by the Distinguished Order of Zerocrats and raised $73,375 in contributions from Zerocrat members up until 1990. When Robert Rich, Sr. became chairman of the Scholarship Committee, the Fund opened contributions to the entire industry which has substantially increased donations and has since raised a total of $1,100,325.

The H.J. “Jack” Cofer Scholarship Program was established in 1985 by the Rich family in memory of Jack Cofer, who was President of Rich SeaPak and Treasurer of NFRA. Each year, five local associations are awarded $1,000 from the Fund to assist them in providing financial aid to students enrolled in a food industry related curriculum. Since the program began, $90,000 in scholarships has been awarded to local organizations.

Registration Limited for the Annual Retail Executive Conference
Retail Executive ConferenceNFRA’s Annual Retail Executive Conference will be held April 26-28, 2010, at the Tempe Mission Palms in Tempe, AZ. Limited to 150 attendees, the Conference provides industry professionals with an informal meeting and networking environment. The Conference Agenda features many informative sessions, detailing the most recent trends in the industry. Topics included in this year’s Conference include “Insight Into Key Areas that May be Impacting Your Ability to ‘Win With Shoppers’” with Craig Rosenblum from Willard Bishop Consulting and “Changing Tastes of the Consumer” with James Russo of The Nielsen Company. Planning Calendar Offers Year-Round Promotion Ideas for Frozen and Refrigerated Foods
The first edition of the new 2010 Year-Round Planning Calendar offers ideas and resources for promoting frozen and refrigerated foods from January – July in a convenient wall calendar format. It also highlights special promotions for March Frozen Food Month, June Dairy Month and the Ice Cream/Novelties contest. The second edition will provide additional thoughts for June – December and will be available in June. Regional Review

North Florida Frozen & Refrigerated Food Association (NFFRFA) is hosting its Annual Kickoff Dinner and Charity Golf Tournament on February 25-26 at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Villiage in St. Augustine, FL. Thursday night begins at 6:00 pm with a reception and cocktails, followed by dinner, as NFFRFA celebrates the recipients of the Doug Milne Scholarship Awards. The event continues Friday morning with the Doug Milne Scholarship Charity Golf Tournament at the Slammer & Squire Golf Course and finishes with lunch and awards at 1:00 pm. The event is open to everyone. Make your reservation by January 26, in order to take advantage of the discounted rate. Industry Highlights

General Mills donated a record $91 million in contributions across the U.S. and abroad in 2009 to ease hunger, advance nutrition wellness, and support K-12 education. The company donated $16 million of food to Feeding America. In the past decade, General Mills product donations have exceeded $168 million dollars. Each year, the company contributes five percent of company pretax profits to communities. In addition, 82 percent of employees volunteer – leveraging the company’s financial contributions.
