June Golden Penguin Statue2009 June Dairy Month Golden Penguin Winners Announced
NFRA has awarded 35 Gold and 37 Silver Penguins in recognition of outstanding merchandising for the 2009 June Dairy Month promotion. Gold Penguins will be presented at the Grand Awards Banquet on October 20 during the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention in Washington, DC. Ice Cream Golden PenguinGolden Penguins Awarded for 2009 Ice Cream & Novelties Display Contest
The Golden Penguins for the Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties Display Contest have been awarded in each of six regions: Northeast, Southeast, East Central, West Central, Southwest and Pacific/Western. In total, there were 26 Gold and 40 Silver awards. Gold Penguins will be presented on October 20 at the Grand Awards Banquet in Washington, DC. Participate in the 2010 March Frozen Food Month National FSI Program

F.A.B., Inc. announced the appointment of Craig Jordison to the position of Regional Vice President of Sales. In this role, Jordison will be responsible for sales operations of the north region. He brings over thirty years of foodservice distribution experience to F.A.B., Inc. Jordison has worked with U.S. Foodservice, J.P. Foodservice, and PYA Monarch.

Hanson Logistics announced the appointment of Blake R. Larkin to the company’s management team as Vice President of Business Development. Larkin is a seasoned executive with an extensive background in all aspects of supply chain design and management. Larkin fills a position vacated by Andrew Janson upon his recent promotion to President of the growing company. Larkin joins Hanson after having spent the past 10 years with Millard Refrigerated Services in Omaha Nebraska.

Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Retailer magazine announced the appointment of three new sales team members. Steve Roth and Halley LoBello will be responsible for the Midwest and Western territories and Mike Stack will be responsible for the Eastern territory. Roth has a dynamic background including work with Crain Communications, Penton Media, McGraw Hill and BNP Media. LoBello previously spent many years working on magazine titles at Hanley Wood and Penton Media. Prior to joining R&FF Retailer, Stack worked with Didier & Broderick, a leading publisher’s representative firm.

 

Industry Highlights

Hanson Logistics announced the company has been named to Food Logistics 2009 Top 70 3PLs. Food Logistics, which focuses on the movement of product through the food supply chain, announced the fourth-annual listing of the Top 70 3PLs in its July/August 2009 issue. Food Logistics first compiled its list of top third-party logistics providers in 2006. These 3PLs offer a broad scope of services and capabilities that enable food companies to reduce costs, increase flexibility and improve service levels. Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) is pleased to be one of five non-profits chosen to participate in the DOLE Bowl-A-Day Challenge. Consumers who enter the online contest choose which charity, PBH, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Feeding America, or a local school, that they want to receive $1,000 or 1,000 Dole Fruit Bowls. When the consumer wins, their chosen non-profit wins too.
