Hot Sales are In-Store for
Ice Cream & Novelties this Summer

Harrisburg, PA – The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association’s (NFRA) annual Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties Promotion will heat up sales in the frozen aisle this June and July. NFRA has partnered with 22 key Ice Cream and Novelties Brands to provide the industry with unique promotional opportunities to boost category sales as summer temperatures begin to soar.

 

The Summer Favorites Retail Display Contest will create excitement in the aisles as retailers from across the country compete for the coveted Golden Penguin Award. Also featured is an exciting consumer $100,000 Online Instant Win Game, which will reside on NFRA’s consumer website www.EasyHomeMeals.com.  NFRA is also offering a wide variety of thrilling, chilling Summer Favorites Point of Sale materials.

 

The Retail Display Contest takes place between June 1, and July 31, 2008.  Store managers, owners, operators and employees may enter for their store, in addition to sales agents, manufacturer representatives and local associations.  Requirements are to build different displays containing multiple ice cream and novelties products of the sponsoring brands throughout the nine week promotion. The $100,000 Online Instant Win Game must be promoted, directing consumers to www.EasyHomeMeals.com to play the game. 

 

The Display Contest entry deadline is August 15, 2008. Gold and Silver Penguins will be awarded in six regions – Northeast, Southeast, East Central, West Central, Southwest and Pacific/Western.  Award winners will receive industry-wide recognition at the Golden Penguin Awards banquet on October 14, 2008 during the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention in San Diego, CA.

 

The Online Instant Win Game begins on June 1, 2008 and ends August 11, 2008, and encourages repeat visits to www.EasyHomeMeals.com. Consumers interact with participating brands as they play the game, and can win $100,000 instantly. Also available are 5 first prizes of $500 each and 100 second prizes of a cooler bag.

The Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties Promotion is part of NFRA’s Frozen Foods – Fresh Ideas. Great Taste. marketing/PR campaign.  This all-industry promotional effort was introduced in 2002 with the objective to bring more consumers into the frozen food aisle and increase usage/sales across all product lines by promoting the convenience, quality, taste and meal solution aspects of the category.
