Fruits and Vegetables Biosecurity Plan
Requirement Effective July 1, 2005 The USDA has conducted advisory food security audits since June 1, 2004 to prepare the Fruit and Vegetable industry for a food biosecurity plan requirement effective July 1, 2005. Fruit and Vegetable vendors are expected to pass an annual food biosecurity audit before they can participate in the 2005 USDA Commodity Procurement Program. Food security planning is the primary focus of the biosecurity audit. TRAP-IT Security has developed a food security planning software product to help individual manufacturers prepare and organize their food security programs. The TRAP-IT® Food Security Planner creates a credible, documented and auditable food security plan that is customized to each specific facility and will meet the July 1, 2005 USDA requirements. For more information, call TRAP-IT Security at 1-877-2-TRAP-IT or visit www.trap-it.com.
