Meat and Fish Food Security Plan Requirement For the 2005-2006 Contract Period
An Update from TRAP-IT Security

The USDA is requiring meat and fish suppliers participating in the 2005 Federal Food and Nutrition program to have a documented and implemented Food Security Plan in place to qualify as an eligible bidder in the program. The pre-award assessment audits will include the eight audit items from the 2004 guidelines plus an additional audit item that includes evaluation of storage and delivery security.

Purchase announcements for 2005 will be published on the USDA AMS web site from May 2005 through February 2006. Contracts will be awarded from July 2005 through March 2006.

TRAP-IT Security has developed a food security planning software product to help individual manufacturers prepare and organize their food security programs. The TRAP-IT® Food Security Planner creates a credible, documented and auditable food security plan that is customized to each specific facility and will meet the USDA 2005-2006 Contract Period requirements.
