NFRA Introduces Members to Innovative Food Security Planning System Harrisburg, PA The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA), TRAP-IT Security Inc., and RQA Inc., have joined together to offer NFRA members the opportunity to trial the innovative TRAP-IT Food Security Planning software system and to purchase the software under special pricing. "We are pleased to offer our members cost-effective food security strategies through our alliance with TRAP-IT and RQA. In todays food safety conscious environment, our ability to bring our members viable solutions at discount pricing is a real benefit of membership," said NFRA President & CEO Nevin B. Montgomery. The TRAP-IT Food Security Planning system is a computer based tool that prompts users through the "Triangle Risk Assessment & Risk Management Process" focused on managing and minimizing the threat of malicious acts on our nations food supply. The TRAP-IT system provides an organized structure for users to build facility specific food security and emergency preparedness strategies. According to TRAP-IT CEO, Bob Havrilak, "Since the BioTerrorism Act was passed, my staff has worked diligently to create a strategic planning process and the tools necessary to guide facility management through the development and implementation of facility specific security plans that will help protect consumers. The result is TRAP-IT, which is to Food Security what Turbo Tax is to the 1040." NFRA will be distributing trial packages of the security planning software to its membership. Special promotional pricing will make the cost of the system comparable to that of a one-day food security training seminar. Jerry Mithen, RQA Sr. VP, commented, "There is an immediate need for effective and affordable Food Security Planning. Developing a strategy to minimize threats against your products, brands, customers and consumers is a philosophically and financially sound business practice." In 2004, President Bush announced Homeland Security Presidential Directive #9 that established a national policy and encouraged the private sector food industry " to defend the agriculture and food system against terrorist attacks " NFRA hopes its members find the TRAP-IT system useful in putting into action their response to HSPD #9.
