Golden Penguin Awards Banquet to be Held at NFRA Convention

Harrisburg, PA — In recognition of the outstanding promotional efforts of the frozen and refrigerated foods industry, the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) will present the prestigious Golden Penguin Awards at a gala reception and banquet on Tuesday, October 11, 2005, during the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention in San Francisco, CA. Golden Penguin Awards are presented for successful merchandising efforts in support of March National Frozen Food Month, June Dairy Month and the June/July Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties promotion.

The Golden Penguin Award is recognized throughout the industry as a symbol of excellence. It represents dedication, innovation and success in the promotion of frozen and refrigerated foods. The Golden Penguin Awards program attracts entries from across the country and from professionals in all aspects of the frozen and refrigerated foods industry.

Last year, NFRA presented 32 Gold Penguin Awards for promotions during March National Frozen Food Month, 28 Gold Penguins for June Dairy Month and 16 Gold Awards for the Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties promotion.

The Awards night will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception followed by a banquet. After the presentation of the awards, The Don Watson Band will provide the evening entertainment. Don and his band have continued to delight audiences with their ability to segue seamlessly between styles and genre of music. The band’s play-list is estimated at more than 4000 songs covering Standards, Rock’n’Roll, Swing, Country, Latin, Motown, Broadway and more. Everyone will have the chance to reminisce and dance to a favorite song.
