October Frozen and Refrigerated Foods Promotion Offers
Consumers Fuel for School

Best Retail Promotions Can Win New Crystal Apple Award

Harrisburg, PA – As Fall approaches and families get back to hectic school schedules, the frozen and refrigerated foods industry will offer convenient solutions to fuel busy school days. The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) and its partnering manufacturers will promote October "Fuel for School" Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Festival with a sweepstakes and retail merchandising contest to build excitement with consumers.

Retailers and local frozen and refrigerated food associations can enter the Crystal Apple Awards recognizing the best merchandising efforts in support of October Fuel for School. In addition, winners will receive other prizes such as a desktop computer or iPod that are appropriate to give away to customers or a local school to create goodwill in their communities.

The contest runs from October 1, 2005 – October 31, 2005. Entrants most promote four of the participating manufacturer products and the $12,500 Fuel for School Sweepstakes that can be entered online at www.BringUsToYourTable.com. NFRA has designed special point of sale materials featuring the sweepstakes information and web address that can be purchased.

The entry deadline is November 15, 2005. Crystal Apples will be awarded in six regions – Northeast, Southeast, East Central, West Central, Southwest and Pacific/Western.

The $12,500 Fuel for School Sweepstakes begins on September 18, 2005 and ends November 30, 2005, with prizes complementing the Fuel for School theme including: (1) Grand Prize Dell laptop computer; (1) first prize Dell desktop computer; (5) second prizes of a $1,000 savings bond and (10) third prizes of a $500 savings bond.

NFRA will support the promotion nationally by running a one-page ad in the October 2nd Valassis FSI announcing the Fuel for School promotion to 10 million homes. The ad will promote the Fuel for School Sweepstakes and invite consumers to check their supermarket for special deals on frozen and refrigerated foods. In addition, a Fuel for School press release and radio spot will be distributed to media outlets across the country directing consumers to the online sweepstakes.

NFRA has available downloadable artwork to assist in creating displays and promoting the sweepstakes in the aisle, in store advertising and circulars and on company websites. Detailed information on the Fuel for School promotion, including sponsoring brands, the Crystal Apple Awards Official Rules and Entry Form and POS order form can be found on NFRA’s website, www.nfraweb.org.

NFRA is a non-profit trade association representing all segments of the frozen and refrigerated foods industry. Headquartered in Harrisburg, PA, NFRA is also the sponsor of March National Frozen Food Month, June Dairy Month and the Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties promotion.
