NFRA Announces the 2005 June Dairy Month Golden Penguin Winners

Harrisburg, PA — For the third year, June Dairy Month promotions across the country boosted refrigerated food sales. In recognition of this outstanding effort by the refrigerated foods industry, the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) recently sponsored the June Dairy Month Golden Penguin Awards Competition.

NFRA honored 23 Gold Penguin winners and 29 Silver Penguin winners from across the country in 15 different retail categories. Click here for a complete list of winners. Five companies are third-year winners in the same category and will receive a special amber penguin. Three-time winners include: Sargento Foods, Inc. in the Retail Manufacturer category; Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc. in the Retail Corporate Chain Over 50 Stores category; Frozen and Refrigerated Foods of Central Florida in the Local Association Over 50 Members category; Acosta Sales & Marketing in the Retail Sales Agent category; and Nash Finch Company in the Wholesaler category.

Judges looked for the best creative effort which included use of the Bring Us To Your Table!® Cool Favorites logo during a full 30-day program. Winners clearly demonstrated their promotional efforts through the use of in-store consumer programs, advertising, community service and education, creative use of merchandising materials and special displays.

Golden Penguin Awards will be presented at the 2005 National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention to be held October 8-12 in San Francisco, CA. Winners will be recognized during a special awards banquet on Tuesday, October 11. Silver Penguins are typically presented at the local level at appropriate refrigerated food association meetings.
