Frozen Food Age Founder, Al Rosenfeld, Passed Away

Al Rosenfeld, founder and former publisher of Frozen Food Age passed away in his 90th year on Sunday, June 11, 2006. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Marlene.

Al served 4 years in the Army Air Corps in China, Burma and India during WWII.  He was awarded the Bronze Star and retired as a Major.

Frozen Food Age, a trade publication, was established by Al in 1952 when the frozen food business was in its infancy.  He was widely respected for his in depth, honest coverage providing news, trends, and detailed master merchandiser of the year case studies as frozen food sales grew over the decades.

Al was inducted in to the Frozen Food Hall of Fame in 1996. He remained very active in the industry since his retirement serving as Co-Chairman of the Frozen Food Industry Memorial Scholarship Fund. His fund raising efforts were instrumental to the growth of the scholarship fund. 

Services will be held on Thursday, June 15 at 3:00 pm at the Riverside Memorial Chapel in New York City.  Condolences may be sent to his wife Marlene at 20 Sutton Place, South, New York, NY 10022.
