Warm Up to Frozen
NFRA and Twentieth Century Fox Pair Up To Promote
Frozen Foods and Ice Age 2 The Meltdown

Harrisburg , PA — Fall temperatures are cooling down and icy conditions are just around the corner, especially for the sub-zero heroes from the Twentieth Century Fox film, Ice Age 2 The Meltdown. The National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) announced at the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention in San Francisco, October 8-12, that these quirky, family-friendly characters will be lending their support to the celebration of National Frozen Food Month in March 2006.

This “cool” pairing between Twentieth Century Fox and NFRA will benefit retailers, manufacturers, local associations and consumers, creating fun promotions that highlight the benefits and convenience of frozen foods, and support the year-round promotional/educational efforts of NFRA's Bring Us To Your Table!® Freezer Favorites campaign.

“The Ice Age 2 characters lend a sense of fun to the frozen food message,” said Tom Lofland of Albertson's and Chairman of NFRA's Promotions Committee. “As an industry, we continually strive to offer consumers insights into the features and benefits of frozen foods through annual promotions like March Frozen Food Month and our Bring Us To Your Table! marketing campaign. Characters like Sid, Manny and Diego and their icy world allow us to share this information in a very compelling way.”

Customized marketing programs featuring characters from Ice Age 2 The Meltdown will be developed by NFRA. Programs comprised of various types of point of sale messaging, in-store media, packaging and on-line activations will be offered to retailers nationwide.

Ice Age characters will be seen throughout the year as NFRA sponsors retail promotions for March National Frozen Food Month, the June/July Summer Favorites Ice Cream and Novelties promotion and the October Fuel for School Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Festival.

“The year-round promotional opportunities afforded through the Ice Age 2 alliance makes this an extremely attractive endeavor for our entire industry,” commented Nevin Montgomery, President, NFRA. “Not only does it allow us to build upon the successful 23 year history of March Frozen Food Month, it provides added marketing possibilities to our June/July Ice Cream and October Fuel for School promotions. Equally exciting to NFRA is that the Ice Age 2 promotional efforts directly support the overall goals and mission of our year-round, all-industry Bring Us To Your Table! Freezer Favorites campaign to create excitement and bring more shoppers into the frozen food aisles, change consumer attitudes about frozen foods and increase the sales/usage across all product lines.”
