Date: Friday, June 25, 2010
Harrisburg, PA – The 2010 National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Convention carries on the tradition of the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association (NFRA) providing incredible value for its members, offering a unique opportunity for industry executives to conduct face-to-face-business meetings with numerous customers in only a few days. This year’s event will take place on October 16-19, 2010, at the Hilton San Francisco – Union Square in San Francisco, CA.
Delegates of leading companies from every segment of the industry will come together at the Convention, in order to make the most of the convenience and value of conducting more business in less time. Retailers are provided with complimentary meeting rooms by NFRA, to support multiple one-on-one business appointments with trading partners. At last year’s Convention, over 1,100 attendees, including over 150 retailers, took advantage of this great event to meet, network, and connect with fellow industry members in one place at one time.
The 2010 Convention theme, “Making a Golden Connection,” is prominent throughout the event, emphasizing NFRA’s commitment to providing activities that reinforce the strong networking opportunities and industry partnerships that can be established through the Association, in addition to the company business meetings. The Convention kicks off with the popular Taste of Excellence Reception on Sunday, October 17, giving manufacturers the chance to showcase their newest frozen and refrigerated food samples to the rest of the industry. A special Retailer Preview will fill the first hour, further encouraging business interactions among colleagues while tasting the latest industry products.
On Monday, October 18, the featured breakfast session speaker will be Judy Woodruff, co-anchor and senior correspondent for the PBS Newshour. She will share her point-of-view on the latest Washington political scene topics, including the Obama Administration and the 2010 midterm elections, based on years of experience as a trusted broadcast journalist.
The guest speaker at the Tuesday, October 19, breakfast session is Phil Lempert, author and industry expert analyst on consumer behavior and marketing trends. In his speech, he will outline how, now more than ever, profits depend on being a step ahead of consumers and anticipating how their major shifts in buying habits and consumer attitudes will affect businesses.
Throughout the Convention, the Café NFRA will continue to be a central break location where delegates can hold informal business meetings and network over refreshments courtesy of the sponsoring companies. In addition, NFRA’s Cyber Station near the Café will have computer terminals so delegates can frequently check their email and print documents between meetings. The Supplier Table Top Exhibits will also return this year with expanded hours and days, providing more opportunities for delegates to meet and set up appointments with this segment of the NFRA membership.
The Convention will conclude with the annual Grand Awards Reception & Banquet on October 19th. This special awards ceremony will mark the debut of NFRA’s Refrigerated Food Hall of Fame, honoring three individuals, selected by a committee of industry executives, who displayed significant leadership within NFRA and the refrigerated foods industry. The winners for outstanding promotions during March Frozen Food Month, June Dairy Month, and June/July Summer Favorites Ice Cream & Novelties will also accept their prestigious Golden Penguin Awards.
