Cool Food for Kids
NFRA is bringing frozen foods to families this fall! The October promotion is Cool Food for Kids, an educational outreach program that will teach children and their families about timely health topics such as portion control and a balanced diet, while driving home the convenience and quality that frozen foods provide. Curriculum is being produced by educational curriculum specialists Young Minds Inspired, and will be distributed to 20,000 elementary schools. In Memoriam:
Richard C. Funk

Richard C. Funk, the past President of the National Frozen Food Association died Sunday, March 8, 2008 at the age of 89. He served as the Association’s leader for 14 years before retiring in June of 1984. “It was a privilege to work with Dick,” said Nevin Montgomery, current President of the National Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Association and Mr. Funk’s successor. “He was instrumental in guiding the Association from a distributor organization to an all-industry organization. He was well-respected in the industry for his leadership and professionalism.” Mr. Funk was a Marine Corps Veteran of World War II. He was an active member of the Distinguished Order of Zerocrats, the American Society of Association Executives, Donegal Presbyterian Church, Phoenixville Lodge F & AM and the Zembo Shrine. Memorial Contributions may be made to the endowment fund of Donegal Presbyterian Church, 1891 Donegal Springs Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552.

Richmond Cold Storage Co. RFFRetailer reports that ConAgra has removed about 2.8 million pounds of salt from American diets annually, in response to its company-wide initiative.  Sodium content in many top-selling products was reduced by 15%-20%, according to Al Bolles, Ph.D., EVP of Research, Quality & Innovation.
