Promote Fuel for School in October and Compete for the Crystal Apple Award

This year, the October Fuel for School Frozen & Refrigerated Foods Festival will include a retail merchandising contest. Individual stores and local associations can compete for the Crystal Apple Award and prizes that can be given away to customers or a local school. Entrants must promote the $12,500 Fuel for School Consumer Sweepstakes which will award Dell computers and U.S. Savings Bonds as prizes. Frozen & Refrigerated Foods of Central Florida (FRFCF) celebrated its 20th anniversary as an association on June 9, 2005 with a social hour for the membership in Tampa, FL. FRFCF was officially formed to support the growing need for product category merchandising. Over the past 20 years, the association has won 3 Gold Penguin and 11 Silver Penguin awards from NFRA for excellence in merchandising frozen and refrigerated foods. The June 9 event also included the installation of the new president, Joan Sogan with Advantage Sales & Marketing — Tampa.

Lakeside Foods recently announced the promotion of Kathy Olson to Application Programming Manager at Lakeside Foods’ Corporate office. Olson joined Lakeside in 1989 as a programmer and was promoted to Systems Analyst/Programmer in 1994, the position held prior to her promotion. SYSCO Corporation has announced Thomas E. Lankford is retiring as president and chief operating officer after a 41-year career in the foodservice distribution industry. Lankford will also resign SYSCO’s Board of Directors. Richard J. Schneiders, SYSCO’s chairman and chief executive officer, will assume the additional role of president.

Futris has been named president and chief operating officer of Sysco Food Services of Jackson, LLC, a broadline foodservice distribution subsidiary located in Jackson, MS. Michael S.
